Behind the Release
Lights, Camera, Kampala: Why the Music Video Still Matters
In East Africa, the official video remains one of the strongest discovery tools an artist has.

Streaming has changed how people listen, but in Uganda and across East Africa the music video remains central to how people discover new music. A strong official video can carry a song for months.
The video as a campaign
An official video should not stand alone. It works best as the centre of a campaign: a teaser before release, the premiere, a lyric video, behind-the-scenes clips, and short-form edits for social platforms.
Protect the value
Once a video becomes popular, fans re-upload it, use the audio in their own videos, and create dance challenges. With proper YouTube Content ID management, that activity becomes recognised and monetised rather than lost.
Measure what matters
Views are only the beginning. Watch time, audience geography, subscriber growth, and traffic to streaming platforms show whether the video is building a career or only a moment.
